A holiday in Bischofshofen puts a wide range of cycling and mountain biking routes right on your doorstep.
There are plenty of bike-and-hike routes to explore, including the route up to Hochgründeck. Cycle as far as the hut, then continue on foot for the final stretch to the summit cross – even barefoot, if you wish. The Wetterkreuz is another popular tour, best tackled by bike with a short walk to finish. Both routes reward you with wide-ranging views and a real sense of achievement.
One of the region's best-known routes is Stage 2 of the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path, leading from Bischofshofen to Bad Gastein. The route follows the reservoirs along the middle Salzach before continuing into the Gastein Valley and finishing at the famous waterfall in the centre of Bad Gastein.
