The Ski Jump
in Bischofshofen

Known worldwide as the annual finale of the Four Hills Tournament, the Sepp (Buwi) Bradl Stadion, with its three ski jumps, is a popular destination in its own right.

The stadium is named after Sepp (Buwi) Bradl, the greatest ski jumper in the history of SC Bischofshofen. The Buwi-Bradl monument was erected in his honour on the right side of the landing hill. A second monument was unveiled in spring 2018 at the visitor centre on the ski jump site.

A ski jumping trail starts in the town centre, with large information boards explaining the sport and the ski jump complex along the way.

The ski jump complex is freely accessible at all times, with no admission charge.

The jump was built in 1947 as the "Hochkönigschanze". Its first major event was a qualifying competition for the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Following a tragic training accident on 5 January 1952, in which Paul Außerleitner sustained severe injuries and passed away three days later, the Hochkönigschanze was renamed the Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze.

In 1991, the jump underwent its first major refurbishment, with further improvements and a new club building added nine years later. All of this formed part of the preparations for the ski jumping events at the Nordic Ski World Championships, held in cooperation with Ramsau in 1999.

In 2004, the ski jump was fully renovated and expanded, with summer matting installed. Today, the facility is an important training centre, and during summer visitors can often watch teams from around the world train at close range.
