Bischofshofen Blackbird Singing 2026
On October 10, 2026, the municipality of Bischofshofen invites audiences to the Hermann-Wielandner-Halle for another special evening featuring authentic folk music and musical diversity. At the "Bischofshofener Amselsingen," various ensembles from Austria and South Tyrol will demonstrate the many ways Alpine folk music is lived, preserved, and constantly reimagined and interpreted.
Guest performers include the South Tyrolean male ensemble *StimMen*, which blends traditional dialect singing with modern barbershop harmonies, and the *Göllwurz’n Musi* from the Tennengau region, a group that has stood for authentic folk music for over four decades. The *InHofer Dreigesang* trio dedicates itself to both traditional songs and newly discovered musical treasures. *HolzArt*—an exceptional woodwind quintet accompanied by a harp—brings unique tonal colors from Carinthia and East Tyrol. The Styrian folk music group *Gstrich’n Vui* combines traditional pieces with their own arrangements. A special highlight is provided by the *Ellauer Dreigesang*, winners of the 2026 Salzburg Folk Music Prize.
Musical direction is in the capable hands of Martina Mayr, Caroline Koller, and Klaus Vinatzer; Caroline Koller will also host the evening. Theresia Saller from the municipality of Bischofshofen is once again responsible for the event's organization.
